Majority of Nigerian Muslims Are Religious, But Not Spiritual

Majority of Nigerian Muslims are religious devotees of Islam, but lacking spiritual relationship with God.
They are even clueless about the Holy Spirit.
They simply follow dictation and recitation without any independent relationship with God.
They follow the rote learning system and have the same herd mentality. And majority of them are fatalistic and unrealistic.

They became Muslims by dictation and not by ratiocination.
Their relationship with God has no depth.
That is why the most ignorant and uninformed majority can be easily manipulated and misled.

The very brilliant daughter of an Islamic leader and lecturer at one of the leading universities in Nigeria asked her father many questions on how they can simply be religious without being spiritual. She said her IQ could not accept such irrational resolution. So, she stopped following their Islamic religion and then challenged Almighty God. She asked God to reveal Himself and how to connect with Him or she would become an atheist. Believe it or not, God answered her and told her that she should follow a group of her fellow students on campus when they would be going for their evening fellowship. And that was how she became a Christian. Her very strict Muslim father allowed her without dispute, because he knew she would not lie to him and he couldn't fault her logical choice.

There is a big difference between being religious and being spiritual.
Religion is empty without the spiritual connection with God. And the Holy Spirit is not a myth. It is the Truth. The spiritual essence of our existence.

Jesus Christ is the Only Way To Salvation

No matter how many times other religions lie in falsehood, our Lord, Saviour and Messiah, Jesus Christ is the only answer for the salvation of everyone. Anything contrary is a lie.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

You Cannot Have A Relationship With God Without the Holy Spirit

Photo Credit: KEYS TO UNDERSTANDING LIFE.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

Billions of people on earth are devotees of different religions claiming directions to our creator and saviour God; of which the majority are the Christians and Muslims, followed by Hindus and Buddhists. And even pagans too claim to communicate with our Almighty maker and owner. But ironically, contrary to their claims, majority of them don't know God and have no real or true relationship with God. They are just assuming and pretending. And their assumption often leaves them in confusion and despair. Because, they easily lose faith and hope in God when they face difficulties. Because, they don't have any relationship with Him.

The only way to have a real and true relationship with God is through His Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot have a relationship with God. Because, it is only through His spirit that you can communicate and relate with Him.

Any faith or religion that does not believe in the revelation and realization of the Holy Spirit is FALSEHOOD.
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
~ John 14:17
How do you communicate with the Holy Spirit?
You must BELIEVE in the existence and then ask for the revelation and He will manifest through the Word of God as our Lord, Saviour and Messiah Jesus Christ said in John 14 of the Holy Bible.
A believer without the Holy Spirit is an empty vessel like an egg without yolk.
Without the Holy Spirit you are defenceless and powerless against temptations, sins and sicknesses. You are defenceless and powerless against demonic oppression and possession.

You cannot fight and resist evils and evil doers without the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will communicate with you, relate with you and unite you with Almighty God to manifest His presence in your life in TRUTH, 24/7.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..

Jesus Christ Appeared and Healed A Paralyzed Muslim Girl in Pakistan

The true testimony of Gulshan Esther.

I am a Pakistani girl from a Muslim family. My father is a direct descendant of Muhammad’s daughter of Fatima. I was paralyzed at 6 months old.
Trips to London and Mecca

At the age of 14, my father took me to London to see a specialist. Yet, it failed. Then my dad took me to Mecca, believing that God would heal me there.

Once there, we walked around the Kaaba (Qs 5:97). I kissed the Black Stone (Al-Hajr al-Aswad), which is located at the Kaaba. I prayed, “Heal me, please.” Yet, nothing happened. Sadly, we walked out to a place where the prophet Ibrahim prayed (Qs 2:125). I prayed for the same healing. Still, nothing happened. Having done all of the ceremonies, we went home with nothing.

The Bitterness of Death

Two years later, my father died. I was overwhelmed with sadness. One day, I was crying out in my prayer, “I don’t want to live! You've taken away my father. Why?”
Kitab-06

Suddenly, a soft voice came. “I will take care of you. Who healed the blind and the sick? Who raised the dead? I am Isa, the son of Maryam. Read about me in the Quran!”

The next day, I read Surah Maryam in an Urdu Quran. I read everything about Isa Al-Masih. One verse I found said that Isa performed miracles. “When God said, ‘Jesus, son of Mary...by My will, you made a sculpture of a bird out of clay, blew into it, and it turned into a real bird by My Will...by My will, you healed the deaf, the lepers, and raised the dead...’” (Qs 5:110).

I began praying to Isa. The more I prayed, the closer I felt to HIm. No other prophet could give life, heal the sick, and raise the dead.

A Visit from Isa Al-Masih

One night, I was praying and crying out louder than ever before. Suddenly, my room was filled with a bright light. There were 12 people standing in a line. The 13th one was bigger and brighter than the others.

“I am Isa, the son of Maryam. Stand up and come to me!” He said.
5867790-Bengkulu

I felt strength flowing into my feet and hands. I saw a hole in his hand. He proclaimed, “I am Isa, Immanuel (Injil, Matthew 1:23). I am the way and the life (Injil, John 14:6). I am alive and will come soon (Injil, Acts 1:19-12). From now on, you must testify to my people. I will be with you wherever you go.”
Receiving Salvation

After being healed, I found the straight way to God. Isa said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture” (Injil, John 10:9). Anyone must go through Isa if they want to come to God.

[We invite you to visit us at http://www.isaandislam.com/way-of-salvation to learn more about God’s gift of Salvation. God loves you and waits to hear from you. Jesus clearly said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Injil, John 14:6) For a deeper understanding of Jesus we suggest you subscribe to "Isa, Islam, and Al-Fatiha" at this link.]

Who Is Jesus Christ?

Who Is Jesus Christ?

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." "But what about you?" He asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."1

Almost 2,000 years ago when Caesar Augustus was ruling the vast Roman Empire, Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem in very humble circumstances. Until he was 30 he was virtually unknown.

However, during a brief three-year public ministry, His impact was such that it changed the world—including the change of our calendar from B.C. to A.D.

H.G. Wells, the famous historian, once said about Christ: "I am not a believer. But I must confess, as an historian, this penniless creature from Galilee is irresistibly the center of history."

No other person ever made the stupendous claims that Jesus did. He claimed to be the Son of God, the promised Jewish Messiah, and the only way to God for all mankind. He claimed to have power to forgive sins and to give people eternal life. Above all, He claimed to be God, saying, "I and the Father [God] are one."2

Socrates once said, "Oh, that someone would arise, man or God, to show us God." Four hundred years later Christ came and claimed to be that person.

But was Jesus Christ the Son of God? If not, He would have been the greatest impostor who ever lived!

Lew Wallace, a distinguished general and literary genius, and Robert Ingersoll, a notable skeptic, agreed to write a book that would prove Christianity to be a myth. After two years of research, however, in some of the leading libraries of Europe and America in preparation for writing this book, Mr. Wallace had a transformation of attitude. He was only up to the second chapter when he fell to his knees and prayed, "My Lord and my God."

After studying the evidence, Wallace became convinced of the deity of Jesus Christ. He then wrote Ben Hur, one of the greatest novels ever written about the times of Christ. Later, Robert Ingersoll had this to say: "In using my speeches, do not use any assault I may have made on Christ, which I foolishly made in my early life." A similar thing happened to one of today's leading Christian authors and spokesmen, Josh McDowell. His outstanding book that supports Christianity, Evidence That Demands a Verdict, began as his attempt to deny Christianity.

As another has said, "You can speak of Jesus as prophet, holy man, teacher, or spiritual leader, and few will object. But speak of Him as Son of God, divine, of the same nature as [God] the Father, and people will line up to express their disapproval. A billion Muslims will say: "Prophet, yes. God, no!" Jews scattered around the world will say: "Teacher, yes. Messiah, no!" Some liberal Protestants and religionists of various stripes will say: "Exemplary man, yes. Divine, no!"

But as Jesus said to His disciples He also says to you and me, "Who do you say that I am?"

One's answer to that question will help determine his or her eternal destiny and that of every person alive today.

"From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life."1

Jesus Christ is not the only religious leader who claimed to be God, but He is the only one who ever convinced a great portion of the world that He is. He is also the only leader who ever claimed that He would rise from death.2 According to historical evidence, He did. He was seen by the women who visited His tomb and found it empty, by the disciples, and by more than 500 other witnesses.3

Further evidence to support the deity of Christ is seen in the more than 300 prophecies concerning Him and His life that are found in the Bible and were written centuries before His birth.

For instance, 700 years before Christ was born in Bethlehem, Micah wrote, "But you, Bethlehem ... though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel."4

A thousand years before Christ's death, David predicted how He would die. "They have pierced My hands and My feet," he wrote.5 This happened at Christ's crucifixion. This is even more remarkable when considering that in David's time, death by crucifixion was unknown. This inhuman, torturous death was first used by the Persians centuries later.

David also predicted that Christ would be betrayed by a friend, that people would "throw dice" for His clothes, and that He would die with criminals.6 He also predicted the dying Savior's cry: "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?"7 All of these predictions came true.

Six hundred years prior to Christ's coming, Daniel predicted when it would be. One hundred years later Zechariah told how Christ would enter Jerusalem riding on a donkey; how He would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver; and how this money would be used to buy a potter's field.8

All these predictions about Christ and many more—written hundreds of years before His coming—were fulfilled in detail, giving evidence to show that Jesus Christ was indeed God's promised Messiah—the Savior of the world.

When Jesus came, He asked His disciples, "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."9

This is the crucial question that each of us needs to answer. If Christ is who He claims to be, then our response to this question will determine our relationship to God for all eternity.

Jesus Himself said, "He who is not with Me is against Me."10 That is, unless we act on our belief and make a commitment to follow Christ in our everyday life, we are automatically against Him.

However, if you do believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and have never committed your life to Him, you can do so through a simple prayer of faith. Tell Christ that you believe He is the Son of God who died for your sins, and that you would like to become one of His true followers starting today. Suggested prayer for those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior: "Dear God, thank You for revealing Yourself in the heavens and all of nature; in Your Word, the Bible; and especially in and through Jesus Christ—the Son of the Living God-my Lord, My God, and my Savior. Help me always to live so my life will be a living example of Christ living in me. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus's name, amen."

The Four Evil Things People Do for Their Love of Money

The four evil things people do for their love of money are the following:
  1. Telling lies to others
  2. Cheating others
  3. Stealing from others and
  4. Killing others.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

You Cannot Be A True Christian If You Don't Understand God

It is better not to be a Christian than to be one who does not understand God.
You cannot be a true Christian without the Holy Spirit.

Jesus the Way to the Father

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”

23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Why There Are Too Many Powerless Pastors in Nigeria

There are too many powerless pastors in Nigeria, because the majority of them are actually fake. That is why the faith of many is waxing cold and they don't receive answers to their prayers. (see Matthew 24:12 ).

Our Lord, Saviour and Messiah Jesus Christ warned us of these wolves in sheep clothing in Matthew 7:5. So, if you know your Holy Bible, you cannot be deceived and fooled by these fake pastors who in many cases are ritual cultists and spiritualists using occultism for spiritualism to do their so called "miracles" to lure and trap ignorant and gullible people who don't have the Holy Spirit. Because, if you have the Holy Spirit you will have the gift of discernment to discern and test all spirits.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
~ 1 John 4:1King James Version (KJV)
But in spite of all these clearly written and repeated warnings by Jesus Christ Himself, the fake pastors, ministers and bishops have succeeded in fooling and misleading millions of ignorant and gullible Nigerians who are too lazy to read the Holy Bible and who prefer lies to the truth, because true words of God expose their own hypocrisy too. So, they prefer pastors who will not admonish them for their unchristian lifestyles of conceit and deceit. So, fake pastors are deceiving the congregations who are also deceiving themselves by their fake Christianity.
They have become what I call "garbage in, garbage out" churches.

The Holy Bible is explicit on how to know fake pastors and preachers.
2 Timothy 3, New International Version (NIV)

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

A Final Charge to Timothy
10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Fake pastors and ministers often shy away from preaching and practicing the commandments of Jesus Christ by avoiding God's emphasis on CHARITY which is the greatest calling of true Christianity. They skip preaching and practicing 1 Corinthians 13, which clearly addressed how best to believe, obey and worship God.
You are wasting your time and money going to church, fasting, praying and worshiping God without Charity.
For where there is true love, there will no crime and there will be no evil.
That is why Jesus Christ said:
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
~ Matthew 7: 12. New International Version (NIV)
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
~ 1 Corinthians 13New International Version (NIV)
That is why our Lord, Saviour and Messiah said to Simon Peter in the following verse that majority of Nigerian pastors, ministers and bishops don't like preaching and practicing today.

Jesus Reinstates Peter
15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

Your Greatest Prophecy is in Your Mouth

Your greatest prophecy is in your mouth if you have faith in God.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
~ From 1 Corinthians 13

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,.... Of witnesses, according to the testimony they bear; of judges, according to the sentence they pass; of teachers, according to the doctrine they preach; of all men, who, by their well or ill speaking, bring death or life to themselves and others. Some, by their tongues, by the too free use of them, or falsehood they utter, are the cause of death to themselves and others; and some, by their silence, or by their prudent speech and prevalent intercession, secure or obtain life for themselves and others; yea, judgment at the last day will proceed according to a man's words, "By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned", Matthew 12:37; the tongue is the instrument either of a great deal of good, or of a great deal of evil;
◄ Proverbs 18:21 ►

For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
◄ Matthew 12:37 ►
Almighty God has given us the power to choose.
The size of our faith is the size of our strength.

Temptation and Ways of Escape

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

Temptation

"But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust."1

Temptation. It befalls all of us. It can come directly from the devil, a devil's advocate, through a friend, or from my own self.

We are all open to temptation for, like a lawn bowl that has a bias (weight) on one side that causes it to curve away from the goal, we have a bias that, unless guarded, causes us to go astray and miss the mark of God's goal for us. The bias is our sin nature that we are all born with.

So how do we defend against temptation?

First and foremost, as author Max Lucado suggests in his book, On the Anvil, there are two very simple strategies for protecting ourselves from sin and temptation. The first is to recognize Satan. So often, we are lured into a sin because it looks so attractive, so fulfilling, so right at the time. So we find ways to rationalize our actions and make excuses for our attitudes. Instead, we must be like Jesus in the desert and call Satan by name. No more sugar-coating the truth. Don't try to water down the power of sin. Call it what it is.

Second, we can guard against some temptations by making sure we get legitimate needs met in legitimate ways. For instance, after fasting for forty days, Jesus was hungry. This is when Satan tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread. Satan always has a way to tempt us at our weakest and/or neediest point. For another example, some singles when they are lonely, instead of getting their companionship needs met in healthy ways, turn to sex as a poor substitute for love.

Third, realize that God's salvation begins at the point where we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord of our life—and as we grow in wholeness and maturity. As Jesus often asked, "Do you want to be made whole?" Wholeness is a requirement for wholesome living, for only to the degree that we are made whole will our lifestyle, our actions, our thoughts (the beginning point of temptation), our behavior, and our relationships be wholesome.

Fourth, walk with God. Growing in wholeness is a life-long process, so in the meantime to avoid giving in to temptation, we need not only to make sure we get our needs met in healthy ways, but also to walk with God. That is, we need to know what His Word teaches by reading and studying it faithfully, and we need to commit and trust our life to God every day, and seek His guidance and help to live a life that will glorify Him in all that we are and do.

Fifth, be filled with God's Spirit who gives us the insight to recognize temptation for what it is and the power to overcome its onslaughts.

Sixth, pray. Sometimes a simple prayer such as, "Help, God, Help," or stating firmly, "Jesus Christ is Lord," can be the best antidote against falling prey to temptation's alluring charms.

Lastly, when we do give in to temptation and sin, remember that God says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."2 The important thing is to get up, put things right where needed and possible, and go on.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, thank You that You have provided a way of escape from giving in to temptation for me through Your so great salvation. Help me to keep growing in faith, love, maturity and wholeness, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I will have the strength to overcome every temptation. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus's name, amen."

1. James 1:14 (NASB).
2. 1 John 1:9 (NKJV).

Anchored On Christ, the Solid Rock

Anchored

"And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock."1

The Stone House in Portugal. Now that’s a foundation built on solid rock!Photo Credit: LIGHTER SIDE REAL ESTATE.

Back in 1992, Hurricane Andrew destroyed thousands of homes in South Florida. Yet in an area where the wreckage looked like a war zone, one house remained standing, still firmly anchored to its foundation. When a reporter asked the homeowner why his house had not been blown away, he replied, "I built this house myself. I also built it according to the Florida state building code. When the code called for 2"x6" roof trusses, I used 2"x6" roof trusses. I was told that a house built according to the code could withstand a hurricane—and it did."2

I can identify with this builder because in former years I was a builder by trade and built my own home at the top of the Adelaide hills in Australia where the winds blow furiously. I not only built according to the local building codes, but went the second mile. Instead of using 2"x8" rafters I used 3"x8" and instead of using large nails to secure these, I used large coach screw/bolts, and so on. I lost a few roofing tiles on one occasion in a wild storm, but never was there any other damage.

As Jesus reminds us, it pays to build solidly on a solid foundation. He was referring to building our lives according to His code as found in His Word, the Bible. Those who do will not be swept away by the storms of life and adverse circumstances that threaten to destroy us.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me to build my life on 'Christ, the Solid Rock' and live according to Your instructions as found in Your Word, the Bible. I thank You that if I do this, I have Your guarantee that with Your help I will be able to stand firm in all of life's storms. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Use It or Lose It

"The LORD said to him [Moses], 'What is that in your hand?' And he said, 'A staff.'"1

I have read how in 1872, at the age of 16, Booker T. Washington (born a slave and then became the foremost black educator of the late 19th and early 20th centuries) decided he wanted to go to school. He walked 500 miles to Hampton Institute in Virginia, and presented himself to the head teacher. Washington later recalled, "Having been so long without proper food, a bath, and change of clothing, I did not make a very favorable impression upon her, and I could see at once that there were doubts in her mind about me."

Finally she said to him, "The adjoining recitation room needs cleaning. Take the broom and do it." A lesser person might have been insulted by being assigned menial work. But Washington recognized immediately that this was his big chance. He swept that room three times and dusted it four times. He even cleaned the walls and the closets. Then he reported to the head teacher that the job was finished. She examined that room like a drill sergeant. She even took a handkerchief and rubbed it across the top of a door. When she could not find a particle of dirt, she said, "I guess you will do to enter this institution."

As a 16-year-old, Washington could not do many things. But he could clean a room. And he did it gloriously. Extraordinary living begins with using what we have. What gifts and graces do you have that you have not fully activated?2

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, thank You that You use ordinary people to do ordinary things in extraordinary ways, as well as using ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Please use me for whatever it is You have gifted me to do and want me to do—be it large or small—and thereby help make my world a better place in which to live. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus's name, amen."

And God Gave Me the Xiaomi Mi4 I Asked For

I cannot deny Almighty God JEHOVAH the glory that He alone deserves and He will never share His glory with anybody.

It was last month that I was introduced to the Xiaomi smartphones, Redmi 2 and Mi4 online and I fell in love with the awesome Mi4 even before I saw it physically. I prayed, and wished to own one Mi4, because of the 1080p + Ultra HD 4k video camera that I can use to shoot my "Sights and Sounds of Lagos" series for mobile streaming on Afrinolly and later on cable TV networks. So, I went down on my knees and with my hands lifted up in praise and worship, I asked Almighty God JEHOVAH for a Xiaomi Mi4 with the expectation of buying one asap. But two weeks later, JSP Communications Limited invited me to meet with the famous Mr. Apple of Africa, Rutger Jan van Spaandonk, Chairman of Mobile in Africa (MIA) who is popularly known by most people simply as “RJ”, Executive Director of Core Group Africa, the sole distributors for Apple in Africa. He met with me and some selected top Nigerian journalists and bloggers, including the lovely big and beautiful Moji Delano and Mrs. Funke Osae-Brown of The Luxury Reporter (TLR) at the Lagos Sheraton in Ikeja. He showed us awesome features of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Mi4 with a multimedia presentation and later we had lunch and took pictures before leaving. I published my report on my popular blogs, Nigerians Report Online and TALK OF THE TOWN By Orikinla. Then last Friday, I got a call from the Nigerian head office of JSP to meet with their top executives and I chose to meet with them yesterday.
I went to their office and they gave me a brand new Mi4 signed and sealed by Xiaomi with love from China. Wow!
Exactly what I asked Almighty God JEHOVAH for!
Praise God, HALLELUJAH. Once again, Baba God has proved His faithfulness and loving kindness to me. He saved me the N55, 000 I would have spent to purchase the Mi4, one of the smartest smartphones in the world today.
I thank God.

My Mi4 sitting pretty.

Mi 4's 13MP Sony IMX 214 CMOS sensor can record 4K videos at 30 frames per second (3840 x 2160 pixels) in real time, and at 1080p resolution. Film a mini masterpiece or record your travels abroad, then admire your work with your friends and family on Mi TV, which also supports 4k video.

Little Things—Big Consequences

Little Things—Big Consequences

"Catch the foxes for us,
The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards,
While our vineyards are in blossom."1

Not too long ago we had the opportunity to have a vacation in Hawaii where, of course, there are many beautiful beaches. At one particular picturesque beach where the grandkids were snorkeling, close by was a rocky section. Here was a warning sign painted with large bold red lettering that simply said, "Dangerous beach. When in doubt, don't."

All too often in similar situations some daredevils tempt fate and alas, too late, they realize that they made a drastic mistake and have been hurt badly or even lost their life.

"When in doubt, don't" is a handy motto to apply to every area of life—especially so in the area of relationships, morals and ethics.

Many a person has started on a downward path in an extremely small way saying to him/herself, "A little lie won't hurt; a little cheating won't be noticed; a little immoral slip isn't going to make any difference; one cigarette won't affect me; and one drug is meaningless.

What they don't realize is that all too often little things lead to big things—either for good or bad. As a kid, I attended a tiny church in my hometown. I started serving God as a young teenager by picking up the hymnals after both church services on Sundays. Just a little thing, but one thing led to another, to another, and to another—until for the last four decades I have had the privilege of reaching multiplied thousands with the gospel around the world, first through a literature ministry and for the last decade via email and the Internet.

The same principle applies to evil deeds. I imagine that the accountants at Enron, Arthur Andersen, WorldCom, etc., started in a very small way adjusting the books; here a small adjustment; there a small adjustment; next a little bigger adjustment; and so on until their companies collapsed.

My former broker in Australia who handled my retirement fund—30 years of savings—stole my entire fund several years ago as well as those of at least eight other clients. He either hid all this money or spent it because, when he was ordered by the judge to pay up, he declared bankruptcy. It was only a short time before he started stealing that a large gambling center was opened not far from his office. My best guess is that he possibly started to gamble in a small way; began to lose money; then more money; then he stole from one client; lost more money; then stole from another client; and so on until he got caught. He has now spent some of his best retirement years in jail.

When will we ever learn that sin has its own destructive pathway and that whatever we sow we reap—if not now, it will be later in eternity—unless we repent of our sins and turn to the Savior? The best advice is that which is painted on a sign on a rocky Hawaiian beach, "When in doubt, don't!"

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me to always live in harmony with life's principles as found in Your Word, the Bible. And, grant that our nation will realize that these are eternal and universal truths that cannot be broken without dire consequences. Grant that we will confess our sins and waywardness and turn back to You. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus's name, amen."

God's Good News

God's Good News

"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes."1

The word "gospel" means good news—the Good News of God's salvation, without which mankind would be doomed for eternal damnation and separation from God, the author of all love and life.

But why is the gospel God's Good News?

First, the gospel is not a message about religion but a message about God's eternal love and purpose for all mankind. Religion wants to fix us from the outside in. God wants to fix us from the inside out. The first can become an impossible burden. The latter is what brings freedom.

Also, it's important to realize that no matter what we have ever done or have failed to do God loves us with an everlasting love and has a wonderful purpose for our lives—for this life and the next! As Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."2 And again, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."3

Second, the gospel is a message about sin, something we are all guilty of. As the Bible says, "We have all sinned and fallen short of God's standard."4 Sin, however, is not only doing harmful acts. It is anything that falls short of the standard of perfection that God envisioned for us. This includes unforgiveness, pride, jealousy, mixed motives, etc. Most of us, too, are guilty of sins of omission; that is, not doing what we know we should and could do.5

However, a common misconception about God is that he is out to punish us for our sins. The fact is we bring sin's punishment on ourselves because sin has its own natural consequences. If we try to break the universal law of gravity, for instance, we can't. It will break us. Neither can we break God's universal moral law. When we try to, it breaks us. And besides its painful effects in this life—suffering, sorrow, sadness, sickness and spiritual death—its ultimate and tragic consequence is eternal death and separation from God.6

Third, the gospel is a message about God's remedy. Because sin has separated or disconnected us from God, we have been left with a "God-shaped" vacuum or spiritual emptiness within. As St. Augustine put it, "You have made us for yourself, O God, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you." The world's many religions are all evidence of man's endless search to find God and fill this vacuum. However, because God loves us so much, he sent his own sinless son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our predicament.7 Christ did this by dying on the cross in our place to pay the consequence of and ransom price for our sins—death. Thus, Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our sin. He is the only way back to God and the only door to eternal life.8

Finally, the gospel is a summons to faith and repentance. If you were found guilty of a serious crime and were condemned to death, would you accept a free unconditional pardon, if offered? Because Jesus Christ died on the cross in our place, God now offers you complete acquittal, forgiveness, and the gift of eternal life. All you need to do is confess and repent of your sinfulness, believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for your sins, and invite him into your life as Savior and Lord.

The following prayer will help you do this. "Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner and am sorry for all the wrongs I have done. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me for all my sins and I invite You, Jesus, to come into my heart and life as Savior and Lord. I commit and trust my life to You. Please give me the desire to be what You want me to be and the desire to do what You want me to do. Thank You for dying for my sins, for Your forgiveness and free pardon, for Your gift of eternal life, and for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully in Jesus's name, amen."
