The Biblical Origin of "God Save the King!"

"God Save the King" is the national anthem of the United Kingdom and the royal anthem of many Commonwealth realms. Following the accession of King Charles III in September 2022, the title and lyrics reverted to "King" from "Queen" for the first time in 70 years.

The Biblical Origin of "God Save the King!"

The first time "God Save the King!"
was spoken and written was during the time of Prophet Samuel when following the instructions of God, he anointed Saul from the Tribe of Benjamin to become the first King of Israel (reigned c. 1021–1000 B.C.) to unite the 12 tribes against the Philistines.

1 Samuel 10:24:
(King James Version)

And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the Lord hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.
